How To Do It Yourself

Hiring a professional technician for your cold cap therapy services offers the greatest chance for success. But, not all technician's share the same experience. Be sure to ask for references, and do call them!

The combined cost of cold caps, along with a personal technician can be daunting and not everyone can afford both.

If you find yourself in this position no need to worry. The vast majority of women who have used the cold caps have done so without the aide of a professional technician.

The following instructions are here to provide you with proper guidance and easy to follow simple instruction, making  cold cap therapy as easy as possible for those wanting to save their hair.

How To:

Shampoo Instructions

· Shampoo should be diluted in tepid or lukewarm water and poured over the hair.

· Gently massage scalp. No vigorous rubbing.

· Rinse hair by pouring water from a cup over the scalp, rather than direct spray from shower nozzle.

· Condition the ends of hair, not the scalp.

· Rinse.

· Gently pat hair with towel to dry.

· Brush or comb the hair gently using a wide tooth comb. If the hair is long do not comb the hair without holding it to take the pulling effect off the roots.

Do not use elastic type bands to tie back the hair, use only soft scrunchy type hair bands.

It’s best to let your hair air-dry. If you must use a blow dryer set it on cold and be very gentle handling your hair.

Do not pull on the hair, or twist it etc.

No-Hot Water

No-Blow-drying (Hot).

No-Curling irons.

No-Hot Rollers.

No-Hair dyes.

Try to keep in mind that we normally lose hair during every shampoo. It might seem that more hair is lost during shampooing now, than it was prior to chemotherapy treatments. This is due in part because we are not shampooing the hair as frequently, thus more hair has accumulated between shampooing.
